Methodology
How HTTPS / SSL Checker works
Is the certificate valid, trusted, and covering the current domain (including www)?
When does the certificate expire? Warning issued when fewer than 30 days remain.
Does the HTTP version permanently (301) redirect to HTTPS?
Is the Strict-Transport-Security header present with an appropriate max-age?
Is TLS 1.2 or 1.3 in use? TLS 1.0 and 1.1 are deprecated and insecure.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does HTTPS matter for SEO?
Google uses HTTPS as a ranking signal since 2014. Non-HTTPS pages may be marked "Not Secure" in Chrome, increasing bounce rates.
What is HSTS?
HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) instructs browsers to always connect via HTTPS. It prevents SSL-stripping attacks and removes the need for HTTP→HTTPS redirects on repeat visits.
What is a self-signed SSL certificate?
A self-signed certificate is not issued by a trusted Certificate Authority. Browsers display a security warning, which drastically reduces trust and traffic.
How far in advance should I renew my SSL certificate?
Renew at least 30 days before expiry. Let's Encrypt certificates expire after 90 days and should be auto-renewed at 60 days.
